2023 – Normalcy Returns
The premier proper postpandemic* Dizzy Daze was marked by moderate weather, a lack of major incident, and general mirth throughout the field.
Standout performances in the half-day run came from Trisha Steidl, who broke the women’s course record with 23 laps in 11:55:04, and Saulius Braciulis, who ran 22 laps in 11:51:22 after arriving on […]
2022 – Back From the Dead
After spending two years dead for tax reasons (and because we didn’t anyone to get cooties), Dizzy Daze returned to Greenlake. The weather coöperated, the crows successfully raided our potato chips, and for a brief time all was right with the world.
Ibrahim Ismail made his ultramarathon debut, running it like Big’s Backyard Ultra, and […]
2020 – The Virus Won
No race. Our permit was pulled in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
See you next year.
2019 – The sunny day
Timing by Northwest Endurance Events.
Michael Wasserman came back to win Fastest Drake with 70.4 miles after just missing the win last year, and Van Phan was our Fastest Duck with 57.6 miles, one week after a 104-mile run at the pac Rim 24 the week beforehand. It was her 500th marathon (or longer).
2018 – The Women Win
2018 was the Women’s March edition of Dizzy Daze. A 31-week pregnant participant finished 32 miles and our overall winner logged 67.2 miles in 11:48:17 even while stopping midrace to nurse her daughter.
Hats off to the ladies!
Hats off also to James Sentinella from Northwest Endurance Events, who did the timing, saving your […]
2017: The year the cars got burgled
2017 started out great. (Well, the race did.) There was little rain, mild weather, and a small field of competitors due to our having been dead a year, so it felt a little like the old days. The pancakes were hot and fluffy thanks to Betsy, the timing crew of Leslie Miller, Jill Hudson and […]
2016 – Dizzy is dead! Long Live Dizzy!
Your lazy race directors didn’t secure a date early enough this year so we took a year off.
The 2015 incarnation of Dizzy featured rain early on, sunshine later, and the usual confluence of mirth and foolishness as folks looped and looped the lake. Thankfully nobody got hit by a car despite (ahem!) playing in traffic along Highway 99.
